Associated troubles of oral malodor - Uncomfortable intraoral sensations and behaviors of other people Higuchi K. 〔Purpose〕 In a specialized halitosis clinic, most patients perceive their own smell as self-recognizing halitosis. They not only recognized oral malodor as a smell, they also complained of abnormal intraoral conditions as their bad breath. They complain of abnormal intraoral conditions too as their bad breath. Patients are further afraid of certain behaviors of others such as covering their mouths and bending backward when the patients speak to them. This means that there exist many implications of oral malodor to the patients. We investigated the actual situation caused by bad breath and the associated implications. 〔Methods〕 261 patients who had come to Higuchi Dental Clinic from September 2005 to September 2010 because of oral malodor were studied. They were composed of 71 men and 190 women. |
